Examining the potential for women returners to work in areas of high
occupational gender segregation
This
is a review of the employment and earnings potential of women who
return to employment after a period of caring for children or other
family members. It includes analysis of the literature and
statistical data on women’s employment histories, the kinds of jobs
they do and what they are paid. It also looks at women’s
qualifications and skills and the way in which their employment
reflects their skills and explores employers attitudes to women
returners and the training opportunities available to them.

Supporting Gender Equality across Government
This document aims to chart progress on the
cross-Government Gender Equality PSA 2003-2006, by reporting on
progress against individual departmental targets throughout 2004,
and forms part of the DTI delivery plan. It also highlights a number
of excellent contributions on the broad range of initiatives being
taken forward more widely across government and the devolved
administrations, which will have an impact on reducing gender
equalities.

Interim Update of Key Indicators of Women's position in Britain
(December 2004)
This report provides a
comprehensive overview of available up-to-date statistics on women
in Britain and updates the information in the November 2002
publication 'Key indicators of women's position in Britain'. This
research pulls together a wide range of facts and figures on women's
position relative to that of men. It presents reliable and
up-to-date information on women and provides a useful baseline
against which further improvements could be monitored. A full
update of the report, including potential revisions to the
indicators themselves, is planned for 2006.
The report covers issues such as population and
demographic characteristics; economic activity and employment;
work-life balance; education and training; financial resources;
participation in public life; health; crime and transport.
