The Women and Equality Unit has published the 'Interim statistical update of key indicators of women's position in Britain'.
This research report provides a comprehensive overview of available up-to-date statistics on women in Britain. It covers issues such as population and demographic characteristics; economic activity and employment; work-life balance; education and training; financial resources; participation in public life; health; crime and transport.

Paying the Price : A Consultation Paper on Prostitution
Paying the Price, a consultation paper on prostitution, published by
the Home Office on 16 July 2004 to prompt a public debate on how to
deal with the issues raised by prostitution in England and Wales.
Views are welcomed from everyone with an interest in this area of
public policy, but particularly from those with experience of
involvement in prostitution, those with experience of the impact of
prostitution in their neighbourhood, and from those agencies - both
voluntary and statutory - working in this field. To find out more

Individual Incomes of Men and Women by Ethnicity
(June 2004)
This fact sheet compares income levels across broad ethnic groups using information combined from three years of Individual Incomes Series, which is part of the Family Resources Survey, from 1999/2000 to 2001/02.
It looks at the level of weekly income that men and women have in their own right, including earnings, occupational pensions, investments, tax credits, and benefits.
Does Sex Make a Difference? An equalities pack for young people on International Women's Day
(February 2004)
This pack is aimed at teachers, personal advisors and those who work with young people aged approximately 14 years old. Updated for 2004, the pack contains useful statistics and some general information on International Women's Day, women in the labour market, the gender pay gap, women's representation and domestic violence. To assist teachers we have also included a number of lesson plans to support each of the main topic areas.
