Privacy Statement
This section explains how this site uses information
you give to us, and the ways in which we protect your privacy.
What information do we collect?
We collect several kinds of information from
visitors depending on which part of the site you are visiting:
feedback, email enquiries, discussions and site usage information .
1. Feedback
If you provide feedback on the website we will only use this to
develop and improve the site. We will keep the feedback for six
months after which it will be deleted.
2. Discussions
When you send comments to any discussions on the website there will
be a separate privacy statement relevant to that discussion.
3. Site usage information
i) Cookies
Cookies are pieces of data created when you visit a website.
The Government Equalities Office website uses
cookies to remember any changes you make to the text size
on any page. Our reasoning is that it is more useful for users to
have one text size selected throughout the site, rather than having
to resize every page individually.
The cookie that we use does not contain any personal
information about you, and does not hold any information about which
sites you visited before ours.
We give you the option to either accept or reject
the 'text size' cookie.
You can also specify that you be prompted before
a site puts a cookie on your hard disk, so that you can decide whether
to allow or disallow the cookie. Alternatively, you can set your
computer not to accept any cookie.
ii) Log files
Log files allow us to record visitors' use of the site. We put together
log file information from all our visitors, which we use to make
improvements to the layout of the site and to the information in
it, based on the way that visitors move around it. Log files do
not contain any personal information or information about which
other sites you have visited.
What happens when I link to another site?
This website contains links to external websites
- those of other government departments and of other organisations.
This privacy policy applies only to our website, so you should always
read the privacy statement of the site you are moving to.
If this privacy policy changes in any way, we will
place an updated version on this page. Regularly reviewing this
page ensures that you are always aware of what information we collect,
how we use it and under what circumstances, if any, we will share
it with other parties.
